Truth tests us.......when....

We all across a number of stories where devotees are put to severe tests, which make them undergo sufferings and pain. Prahlad, son of Hiranya Kasipu, was an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu. But his father hated Vishnu , in this confrontation between father and son, Prahlad, the little boy was rolled down mountains, thrown into the ocean forcibly and asked to drank poison, but he survived with his unshakable faith in Vishnu, who ultimately appeared in the form of Narasimha and blessed him. These tests were given to Prahlad to make him grow stronger and stronger I his faith in Lord Vishnu. The story of Harishchandra is another legend to glorify the tests be truth. The whole story runs round the efforts of sage Visvamitra to provoke Harishchandra to break his promise and utter a lie. But Harishchandra was ready to lose his kingdom, wealth and even his wife, Chandramati, to stand firm in his faith in truth. When Truth tested him severely, he did not hesitate to face the tests for protecting the values of Truth. Harishchandra’s name became immortal.
Mohandas karamchand Gandhi after witnessing the stage play of this Harishchandra boy tool an oath to adhere to Truth and strictly followed it in his life thereafter .in all the stories of great devotees of Siva(Nayanmars) and ardent devotees Vishnu(Alvars) we find that God makes them undergo hardships to test the strength of their devotion. At the end, he grants them relief and joy, while vindicating their greatness.
